AMERICA FOR SALE

IS AMERICA FOR SALE ?
AMERICA FOR SALE
Mary Margaret Park
It is in the fall of truth
and in the flight of reason
America's trapped
in a capitalist cage
The lackey's in Washington
have taken center stage
There's a huge power auction
up on capital hill
The constitution downsized
for government swill
The politics of excess
dictate the rules
Our paragons of democracy
court jesters and fools
It's rumored the oval office
has a currency theme
stock trading symbols
on dollar bill green
America's stock markets
move to an elitist sway
the everyman majority
rarely comes into play
Globalization
is a super sonic wave
our economy falling
swept into its wake
Industrialization
is long past its prime
in this cyclone of change
we must evolve to survive
The nation's burdened by
big brother's beat
We're slaves in a box
of corporate deceit
It is in government corruption
that democracy falls
It is in the selling-out of America
that steals the future
for all

WHY DO NATIONS FALTER?
Mary Margaret Park
Why do nations falter
with the vice of war?
Perhaps our leaders
have forgotten
what they’re fighting for?
We think ourselves the masters
as we behave as slaves
Black crude and Saudi silver
have come to rule our days
What glitters is not gold
but a tool of strife and hate
Unlike the kings of old
we have bargained
with our fate
Our leaders take by force
what we can’t rightly claim
Our imperialistic vision
is a very dangerous game

The European nations
see our fatal flaw
in strong-arming
other nations
the dust of war on us
does fall
Fighting unseen enemies
we think lie outside our doors
we end up crippling freedoms
within our very shores
The ropes we cast to vanquish
our enemies far away
burn the hands that wield them
in the truths we will not say
When the salt of discord
has dried upon our cheeks
will other nations turn their backs
on the empty words we speak?
And should civilians scream
and die upon the streets
will we still think we’re clever?
Will victory be so sweet?

Uptown daisies
1.2.3
Downtown maybe’s
If you please
Country bumpkins
never ruled out rhyme
They’d rather sing
and tap in time
Pansey’s peril
cold as ice
She’ll hard frost over
ever clear, even
Thrice…
Birches bushes
Conifer’s tunes
Pine sap roils in coldest
plumes
Pine rows, wind breaks
on farmers land
protecting crops
hand in hand
Nature’s perfection
Is-land
Country lanes arrive
on dirt roads
kind to deer, larks, and toads
Honeysuckle vines so wild
line old roads for country miles
their sweetest centers
perfume the land
Their white bonnets
bow down
to bugs and birds
and other herds
to pollinate and grace our crops
with bounties harvests’
to share and shop
Bayous flow in rainy seasons
like paddleboats through river towns
Dangerous waters now reign nigh
for plow and hearth
and you and I
Rock of ages, rock of gold
River rocks and bluffs don’t take notes
They speak of ancient tides
long ago
Past kingdoms for naught
Never better
Nature’s blush
Nature’s sweater
Mother….
Nature’s
Always
Better

Upon the prairie winds there rides
o'er a thousand family trees
just as forest floors become
Autumn's fallen leaves

In the future's past and present
dwells an ancient seed
to sow the best of all that is
to heal the wounds that bleed

One nation's call
a desperate cry
Yet, not alone it dwells
For all countries Mourne their dreams
when other nations fail

A gilded age of gluttony
and the arrogance of 'climb'
A corporate monopoly
to hide their crimes behind

The four horsemen
have risen nigh
to have their final say
The apogee of greed for power
a blazing scream foretold of doom

Power vacuums full of strife
rode the final waves
Their crest a sojourned flight
trading plague for people's days
Mere trinket lining for their pockets
as scores of people died

Along with death and destitution
as hungry children stand in lines
claiming 'fair' days for Faraday's warning
their legacy defined

"In an age of rampant political corruption, it's imperative we call truth to abuses of power and hence support the individuals who have had the courage to do so."
